Prenatal Care
by a midwife
Besides receiving care from your gynecologist, you have the right to receive care during your pregnancy from a midwife (or for instance in between your gynecological exams). A midwife can visit you in the privacy of your own home and has an hour to tend to your prenatal needs as well as to answer any questions you might have.
A midwife can tend to your needs in the following areas:
- Monitoring the growth of your baby and your uterus
- Checking your blood pressure
- Taking urine samples
- Assessing the position of your baby
- Listening to your baby’s heart rate
A midwife performs these check-ups and then documents everything in your maternity log. If anything unusual is detected your midwife will refer you to your gynecologist or birthing center.
Our midwifes provide prenatal care in the following districts of Berlin:
- Friedrichshain
- Hellersdorf
- Hohenschönhausen
- Karlshorst
- Köpenick
- Lichtenberg
- Marzahn
- Mitte
- Oberschöneweide
- Pankow
- Prenzlauer Berg
- Weißensee
